Meet The Team

Kate
Director and owner
My name is Kate, Director of PHX K9 UK. My journey into professional dog training began after adopting an overseas rescue, over 6 years ago, who was extremely fearful of the world. With little prior knowledge of training, I was determined to help him overcome his anxiety and live a more confident, fulfilling life. What started as a personal mission quickly developed into a deep passion for understanding canine behaviour and communication. This passion inspired me to leave my previous career and begin working with dogs full-time. I started by offering dog walking and pack walks, gaining valuable hands-on experience with a wide range of breeds and behavioural challenges. From there, I expanded into running group training classes, private lessons, and for the past four years, residential training programmes. Through these, I’ve had the privilege of helping countless dogs and owners build stronger, more harmonious relationships. In 2024, I took the next step in my professional journey by welcoming my first sport dog, Flo — a Dutch Herder — with whom I am currently working towards achieving our PDC title.

Becky
Head Trainer
Becky joined PHX K9 in 2023, bringing a passion for dogs and a strong background in training and behavior. She’s completed her Canine First Aid course, Level 3 Canine Health, Welfare and Behavior Qualification, the IMDT 2-Day Dog Trainers Course, and the Phoenix K9 Mentorship Program.
Becky runs pack, solo, and training walks across Berkshire, as well as private lessons and intensive training programs. Her own dogs — Cami the Staffy and Mila the flat-coated retriever — are perfect examples of her calm, patient, and skillful approach to training

Mike
Trainer and Decoy
Based in Birmingham, Mike has been professionally training dogs for over five years and became part of the PHX K9 team in 2024. He owns a spaniel named Merlin, with whom he enjoys a variety of Gundog work.
In 2024, Mike attended the Lorockmor Decoy Course, where he began developing his skills in decoying. Since then, he has continued to shadow and work alongside some of the most experienced decoys in the country. Over the past year, his passion and expertise for decoying and working dogs have grown immensely.
Mike is now offering decoy sessions for both sport enthusiasts and pet owners who want to try something new and fulfilling with their dogs. His sessions are designed to build confidence, engagement, and drive — helping each dog reach its full potential.
